(DST-SERC Scheme sponsored project, Principal Investigator)
-
Generated digital databases on various
watershed resources from multi-source data for watershed modelling
of a hilly terrain.
-
Extensively utilised the multi-disciplinary
knowledge-based rules, in a GIS format, to:
o discriminate the spectrally inseparable vegetation classes;
o assess the magnitude and the severity of soil erosion; and
o generate a treatment-oriented land-use planning scheme.
-
Identified
the critical/priority watersheds, on the basis of sediment
yield index values, for preferential soil and water
conservation measures.
-
Developed a systems-approach model
on "WATMIS – Watershed Management
Information Systems ", an off-the-shelf software, for sustainable
development of a hilly watershed.
