b.    Modeling of Ionospheric and Tropospheric effects on GPS signals

c.     Rapid Geo-tagging

Precision Geolocation: Analysis of GPS data for precision positioning is being used to estimate the subsidence in the gas fields after extraction. The research here is on development of methodology of field observation of reference points and their analysis.

Ionospheric and Tropospheric modeling from GPS Signals: It is known that GPS signals are affected by inoospheric and torpospheric conditions during its passage through these layers of atmosphere. There are several models to counter these delaying effects. The approach in the research in this field is to reverse model these effects from the GPS delays observed at a fixed known point on the earth and involves continuous observations of GPS delays from various directions and relating them to the independent observations of ionopheric and tropospheric observations. It is expected that from the analysis of directional delays in GPS signals a 3D profile of ionospheric and trpospheric conditions could be estimated.

Rapid Geo-tagging: Estimating a course position from very short duration GPS signals is a challenge to be tackled from the efficacy of data analysis procedures to be modified for code processing of GPS signals. Research in this field is being carried out to develop a methodology and algorithm to achieve Geo-location from short duration observations.
