Detailed-scale geomorphology and morphometric analysis of Noachian-Hesperian fluvial landforms in the southeastern Thaumasia highlands of Mars

This research aims at the investigation of fluvial valley networks in the southeastern Thaumasia highlands of Mars. Fluvial valley networks point to prolonged periods of continuous flow of liquid water. The Mars Colour Camera (MCC) aboard Mars Orbital Mission (MOM) launched by ISRO is providing high quality images of Mars in the visible region. These data sets would be used in conjunction with the older datasets from previous Mars missions for 3D morphometric and mineralogical analyses of fluvial landforms in the South-Eastern Thaumasia region Mars. The results of these analyses would provide new insights into the origin, development and temporal evolution of aqueous regime in this part of Mars.
