6) Resume of Research Work/Experience

For the past 18 years I am associated mainly with research work on microwave remote sensing applications for land and interferometry. I have used data extensively from microwave radiometers, radar and visible and IR sensors. Analysis of microwave remote sensing data and quantification of soil moisture in smooth, rough and vegetation covered fields were done along with dielectric, radiation and numerical models. SAR Interferometry technique has been applied using ERS-1&2 and ENVISAT data to generate Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and surface displacement maps.

As a part of my Ph.D. programme, I had done courses on Electro Magnetic theory, Radar Systems, Data processing in Remote Sensing Image Processing, Image Interpretation and Laboratory work too. I did some of my doctoral research at Technical University, Department of Microwave and Telecommunication, Budapest using 1.4 and 2.7 GHz microwave and thermal infrared radiometers data. Since 1990, I have been actively working on visual and digital interpretation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for land based studies. I have analysed the SAR data from recent satellites viz. JERS-1 (Japanese Earth Resources Satellite) and ERS-1&2 (European Remote Sensing Satellite ). I have also collected ground truth synchronous with SIR-C/X-SAR mission and processed the SIR-C data for various applications such as soil moisture, roughness and vegetation. Presently, I am working with ERS-1 and 2, JERS-1 SAR and SIR-C/X-SAR data for land based and interferometric studies.

After completing my M.Sc., I researched for about two years on thermal and mechanical properties of organic materials using Ultrasonic Interferometer & Pulse Transceiver.
