EXPERIENCE IN RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
I. Geographic Information System
- Developed a methodology for creating a raster structured GIS integrating natural resources and socio economic parameters.
- Implemented an operational micro-based spatial information system in a district to aid district level planning.
- Developed a low budget GIS package called GRAM (Geo-Referenced Area Management) with the modules of vector cum raster data input, error check, rasterisation of vector data, digital terrain modelling,GIS overlay functions, image processing tool for remote sensing data analysis, geometric transformation to register different map planes and print final results on inkjet printers and plotters.
- Presently building GRAM++ GIS package for Windows using Object Oriented Methodology.
II. Digital Image Processing
- Worked on digital analysis of Landsat MSS and TM, SPOT and IRS remote sensing data for various natural resources applications.
- Studied the spatio temporal variations in landuse using Remote Sensing and GIS
- Developed a computer aided model to study the spectral behaviour of saline soil using Indian Remote Sensing satellite data.
III. Education And Training
- Delivered lectures to M.Tech Remote Sensing students in GIS and Image Processing.
- Conducted 15 short terms courses on GIS in resources management for the benefit of user agencies.
- Organised UNESCO sponsored 4 Weeks' Training Programme on GIS for Natural Resources Management during Oct.- Nov.,1993.
- Delivered expert lectures in various courses organised in the country in the areas of Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing, District Information System etc.
- Delivered guest lectures at ITC, the Netherlands, University of Reading, U.K. South Dakota State University, U.S.A. and University of Melbourne, Australia.
IV. Acquaintance In GIS Activities In Other Countries
