Product Development

Along with Dr. (Mrs.) P. Venkatachalam of CSRE, IIT Bombay developed GRAM++, indigenous GIS software package entirely within the Centre. This activity was originally sponsored by UNDP (India) and Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, till 2004.

Developed a Multimedia Image Processing Tutor for Remote Sensing, supported by ISRO-IIT(B) Space Technology Cell

International Fellowships / Grants

Received the DST-Royal Society Fellowship under UK-India Science Networking in July 2004 to visit University of Leeds, England, University of Edinburgh, Scotland and University of Reading, England for a total period of three months. (Actual visit took place during May – August 2005).

Received UK-India Science and Technology Research Fund (UISTRF) grant for a project funded by DST and British Council to do collaborative work on High Resolution Image Analysis of over Urban areas with School of Geography, University of Leeds, UK during Aug. 1999-Aug. 2001 involving exchange of visits.

Received UNDP Fellowship to visit Environmental Systems Science Centre (ESSC), University of Reading, UK for two months to work on GIS during Dec. 1996 – Jan. 1997.

Received the British Council Fellowship under TECHNICAL COOPERATION TRAINING PROGRAMME (TCTP) to visit NERC Unit for Thematic Information Systems (NUTIS), University of Reading, UK for three months and work on Knowledge Based Image Segmentation, during April-June 1990.

Highlights of work done since March 2005

1. Visited UK under the UK-India Science Networks scheme for three months to carry out research at School of Geography, University of Leeds, during May - August 2005.

2. Completed two sponsored research projects sponsored by ISRO-IIT(B) Space Technology Cell.

3. Proposal under review for collaborative research program with School of Geography, Boston University, USA under NSF-DST S&T Cooperation scheme.

4. Supervised / Co-supervised M.Tech. dissertations of three students, from KReSIT, Dept. of Civil Engineering, and Dept. of CS&E respectively, two more to finish in 2007.

5. One consultancy project with CIDCO, Navi Mumbai to prepare Base Map for the new International Airport in Navi Mumbai.
